Dean started this all with his dad, Ken, building and remodeling homes in Anoka back in 1979. Today, with over thirty years of experience, Dean has fashioned Hanson Builders into a company of excellence. Dean knows people want more than a gorgeous home; they want a home-building company with a solid reputation for excellent quality and integrity. They want a company that has stood the test of time and has never changed their name to evade responsibility. At HBI, we stand behind our homes because we take pride in what we build. Dean enjoys traveling, serving with Homes of Hope and Children’s Hope Chest and spending time with his five kids, daughter in-law, son in-law, and five grandchildren.

Don joined Hanson Builders in 1997 and is an important part of our Leadership Team. His sense of humor, optimism, and focused effort on sales & marketing are great additions to Hanson Builders. Don keeps the energy high at the office, supports our sales staff, and meets regularly with custom-design clients. He ensures that each client receives all the tremendous benefits of our team of pros; Mark, Nancy, Emily, Scott, Liz.

Pastimes include reading, traveling, fishing, anything Mac-Book-iPad-iPhone, and church leadership. Don and his wife Laurie have two adult kids, both in the Twin Cities area. Home is in St Paul.

V.P. Construction

JD was always a natural when it came to building things. He worked with both his dad and grandpa (Ken) from the time he was old enough to carry a hammer. Even though he is a relatively young man, JD possesses over 16 years of actual building experience. As our V. P. of Construction JD keeps a close eye on every job being built by Hanson Builders. Most every subcontractor knows JD very well and he is held in high regard by each one. In his spare time he is snowmobiling, hunting, or lifting his Jeep a little higher. JD lives in Blaine with his wife and son Hunter.

V. P. Design & Architecture

Mark is THE energy in our office. He turns out new designs with amazing speed and has an uncanny knack to solve flow and space relationship challenges like nobody else. He is the creative genius behind our homes. Clients quickly discover how much fun it is to have meetings with Mark, and then are regularly blown away at the next meeting at what he has dreamed up for them.

Mark is constantly designing better and even more exciting new designs. He will work with you to customize whatever you desire in a new home. Nationally recognized in home design, Mark provides a broad perspective to the Hanson Builders Design team. In his career he has rubbed shoulders with names like Susanka, Lander, Cudd, Bloodgood and more. He is friendly and enthusiastic about his work. Mark and his wife Jane live on the East side and have three adult children. Mark loves team sports including football, hockey, and baseball, is active in his church and enjoys spending time with his family.

After some time in corporate America, Chris started with Hanson Builders as a consultant on land development projects. Chris now oversees the finance, accounting, HR, and IT functions at Hanson Builders. Chris is a competitive cyclist and competes in amateur and professional level races all over the country…although his wife, a 2x Ironman podium finisher, contends that she is the better athlete.

Dan started working in the home building industry on the financial side of things in 2011. His primary role is to support and assist our sales team in any way possible, prepare exact and precise home proposals, prepare preliminary lot layouts, and help complete our “file checks” which are the vehicle by which we finalize documents for construction. Words to describe him include; precise, focused, smart, dry humor. He enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time with his nephew, Easton and his dog, Buddy.

Lesa grew up in Wisconsin, spent 20 years in California selling real estate and now is happy to be back with her family in the Midwest. She started with Hanson Builders in 2000 and has sold in Andover, Blaine, North Oaks, and Maple Grove, and now in Plymouth. Professionalism, sense of humor, and friendliness all help Lesa win customers confidence quickly.

Lesa lives in a Hanson Builders built home. An animal lover, her focus is with her husband Rusty and their three kids – Travis, Brandon, & Chloe. Heading toward the empty nest…

Sales Agent

Alan has experience in real estate, home building, remodeling, and was also a framer for many years. He has the ground-up training and appreciation for this business. A friendly smile, winsome way, and consultative approach to selling make him a favorite of our clients in North Oaks, Shoreview and now Andover.

Alan is a Licensed General Contractor and has built over 40 single family homes, having framed on 100’s.

He and his wife Jennifer (also a realtor) have 4 children.

Joe sells our Blaine community Wagamon Ranch. But, he does so much more for our new home buyers, Joe also assists them with the sale of their current homes, and works with real estate investors identifying and acquiring income producing rental properties. Hard working, reliable, friendly, and thorough. Joe works like crazy for his clients, and has broad knowledge on the market, the sales process, legal issues and agency representation, and new technologies.

Joe is raising a family in a Hanson Builders home in Blaine, has a great community spirit, and volunteers his time to many local causes including the Blaine Public Safety Association where he is a Founding Board Member.

As a Realtor for Coldwell Banker Burnet, Wayzata office, Luke closely follows local trends in the Real Estate Market. He specializes in new-home construction, and although he may look young, Luke has been involved with building homes for over 15 years. Early on his jobs included digging drain tile, landscaping, sweeping and scraping, carpentry, and most other tasks necessary along the way to a finished home.

Luke has a degree in Finance from Florida Gulf Coast University.

He works with families looking to build a new home, and helps to guide them through the design/build process and market their existing home if needed.

Marketing Manager

A new addition to the team for 2017 Devon is bringing new energy to our online presence. He comes to Hanson Builders from the world of online sales. Home is in South Minneapolis with his wife Thea and their dog Teddy and rides in to work every chance he gets!

B.A. Marketing, Concordia University of St. Paul

Jim is with our Coldwell Banker Burnet group. He joined our team in 2005 as a satisfied customer having built his family home with Hanson Builders in 1997. Jim brings a multitude of talents to our team including some in-depth knowledge of new construction. Jim serves under two brokers – North Oaks and Plymouth, and is also a Relocation-Specialist.

He enjoys hunting, fishing, and being with his family. Jim & his wife Lisa have two children, both in high school now.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Interior Designer

Our newest interior design superstar Erica comes to us with experience in both Design and Sales – in fact we first met Erica as our rep at CAP Carpet almost a dozen years ago! Luckily the stars aligned for Hanson Builders in 2017 and we were able to bring Erica onto our Interior Design team.

Erica says the fun and collaborative design process here at Hanson Builders makes this job a dream come true!

When she’s not here at her dream job, Erica and her husband (who was born and raised in England!) are looking after after two kids and two dogs She’s also passionate about chalk painting furniture, riding her bike, exploring for new boutiques around the cities, and of course reading up on the trends in home design, color and style. We are proud to have her on the team and you are going to love working with her to make your dream home come true!

Interior Design Assistant

Jane is on our interior design team assisting with a wide variety of important parts that all contribute to the finished model homes that help clients envision how great it is to live in one of our homes. Married to Mark our VP of Design, they are empty nesters near Bald Eagle Lake. Three grown children and a dog finish the puzzle.

Nancy is our very talented in-house certified interior designer. She meets with custom home buyers helping them select from the latest design options to make their home reflect their tastes. Nancy spends hours looking at design trends and new products for the interior of our homes. She is an expert is color coordination and can help you find just the right shade of any color. As a mom of three young children, her free time is pretty much spoken for.

Emily started with us in 2013 as a Design Assistant to help make certain our clients get the design-time service they deserve. Emily is creative at heart and she is adding value to our client experience as she helps them select interior finishes for their new home. Design is fun with Emily!

Although not involved in the day to day operations of HBI, Catherine often provides a female perspective to the design and function of our homes. As a member of the design team, she gives input on what women might want in a new home. Catherine is also involved in the merchandising of our award winning models and does the selecting and shopping for all the furnishings. When not working she enjoys time with friends, family and her five grandchildren.

Architectural Draftsman

Jay comes to us with a diverse background in construction and design experience – remodeling, framing, architectural drafting. He has worked with small local companies and large national corporations. Jay is our “master plan” guy ensuring specific accuracy of final plans. He uses our SOFTPLAN architectural design software.

Drafting Manager

There is little Garrison can’t do.  He has an eye for design, as well as a careful attention to detail.  Garrison is driven and passionate about his work. He is our ‘Traffic Manager’ shepherding over 100 plan sets through our design, drafting, and permitting processes.

When not working he enjoys spending time with his family and loved ones. While going to school Garrison found a passion for photography, and loves to get out and take some pictures whenever he has a chance. He is our ‘drone’ operator. Coming from a car family, it is in his blood to love cars, owning three himself.

Zach has an educational background in business management and architectural drafting. He enjoys doing cad work on our floorplans where he can help bring to life our clients dream home. His attention to detail and work ethic make him a great fit to our drafting team. Zach has a passion for football and played for 12 years at Osseo and Bethel University.

Sr. CAD Drafter

A.A. Architectural Drafting, Minneapolis Drafting School

Doug has 20 plus years of drafting experience, starting with a production builder, then with custom home builders. He does the CAD work on our custom designs where a steady hand, broad knowledge base, and precision are all important skill sets. Doug and his wife have four boys who love to get out and enjoy the outdoors of Minnesota.

FIELD OPERATIONS

Senior Field Project Manager

Mike came to Hanson Builders with many years of custom home building experience. His knowledge and careful attention to the building process shows in every home he supervises. Mike has a great personality – pleasant, friendly, thorough, and tough when needed. He is the go-to guy for our clients building in Plymouth.

Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. Mike has a good jump shot, but in the fall you won’t find him on the court…he’ll be in the North Woods hunting with JD.

Service Technician

David’s broad background is a tremendous asset in his position as our Service Technician. He can diagnose just about anything, and often repairs it on the spot. A steady personality and a dry sense of humor make him a favorite with other team members and customers alike. David makes his home in Lindstrom and enjoys an active outdoor family life.

Field Tech

Chris has been with Hanson Builders for quite awhile now. You will find him helping fine tune homes for new owners, assisting Ryan & Mike in the field, moving furniture …… and about anything we ask him to do. He has a positive attitude each day and we appreciate him greatly.

Field Tech

Danny grew up in a family of carpenters and hence has learned building from the ground up. New to Hanson Builders in 2017, we are glad to have him on our growing team. Home is in Andover, with wife Cacey and two young toddlers.

Field Project Manager

Brett is one of our Field Project Managers, who came to us with some commercial construction experience and wide breadth of construction skills. Quickly likable, he spends some off-time coaching wrestling. Brett and his wife Amber live in Cambridge.

V. P. Construction

Field Project Manager

Ryan has been with Hanson since 2004.  An old carpenter at heart, his skills and construction experience are reasons why Hanson maintains it’s industry leading craftsmanship . Like his father, David Hansen, there is not much he cannot fix. He also has his father’s sense of humor and great work ethic. Ryan lives in Ham Lake with his wife and son.

Assistant Field Project Manager

Jeff began working in the new home construction business at a young age. In fact, a new home project manager is the only job he has ever held. Jeff prides himself on building solid relationships with homeowners and subcontractors. He loves the product we build, and is proud to be part of the team. Outside of work you can find Jeff on the golf course or with his family at the cabin.

Field Project Manager

Mike is a 3rd generation carpenter.  He started helping his dad with projects when he was very young. When Mike graduated from high school he started remodeling homes full time and realized then that he loves watching a pile of lumber transform into someone’s dream home. Since then he has learned many different areas of construction and still loves watching the transformation. Mike lives in Princeton with his wife Kathy and three active boys, Sam, Max, and Joey. In the summers you will find Mike and his family at the local baseball fields or at the lake.

Heavy Equipment Operator

Ian is our outdoor guy who tackles a wide variety of projects. His skill in a Bobcat is unmatched. If there were national Bobcat competitions we know our guy would be the champ. Stop and watch a real pro at work when you come across Ian installing a boulder wall at your new home. When not up in a dirt mover, Ian enjoys the outdoors and time with his family.

Field Tech

Bruce (Bruno) joined Hanson Builders September 2013 and enjoys all aspects of being a field tech.  He framed for 3 years immediately after high school and is glad to be part of the home building process once again. He is a dedicated employee who believes a job worth doing is worth doing well.  Bruno and his wife Carol have 3 great kids. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and family vacations. He is proud to be part of the Hanson team.

Heavy Equipment Operator

Brandon has many years running a variety of heavy equipment.  In his free time he enjoys camping, motocross, snowmobiling, and spending time with his two boys.

ADMINISTRATION

General Manager

Steve is the most senior employee at Hanson Builders and has experience and knowledge only time can provide.  When clients build with us they receive the immense value of his critical eyes applied to their plan. Whenever a tough or complicated problem arises Steve is the person we put on the job.

Steve and his wife Lori live in Andover, and have two adult sons Luke & Jack.

Marketing Coordinator

A.A. Anoka Ramsey Community College

Christine started at Hanson Builders in April 2014. After working in the photography world for 17 years she made a change to marketing. Christine acquired marketing skills from her studio ownership which she now puts to use helping us stay connected with our clients. She has 3 children and lives in Ramsey with her husband Mike who is active in Bike Cops for Kids in Minneapolis.

Project Manager

Liz is the face of Hanson Builders to our clients during the entire build process. If she does not know the answer, she will aggressively grab the ear of as many of us as she needs to in order to find a solution and serve our clients. She is multi-dimensional and has a wide background in various business environments. Liz has a real heart for youth and has been involved in many programs focused on helping today’s young people invest in their future. Liz has three children – one left at home, and lives in Ham Lake with her husband Dan.

Administrative Assistant

Maureen, or Moe to the people that know her, can do it all.  She has all kinds of technicals skills, but love for people shows itself in a warm greeting whenever you call or stop by our office. She and her husband, Randy have a son and a daughter who have left the nest but still love to hang out as a family. Randy’s role as a pastor has allowed them to serve in two mega churches in the Twin Cities. Maureen loves gardening, dogs, and silly jokes. Her favorite thing is to hang out with her husband and kids and laugh until they cry.

FINANCE

V. P. Finance

Chris is a competitive cyclist and competes in amateur and professional level races all over the country…although his wife, a 2x Ironman podium finisher, contends that she is the better athlete.

Purchasing Manager

B.S. Construction Management, Minor in Business Administration, University of Wisconsin Stout

Scott leads the charge of organizing and analyzing bids, pricing, contractor selection, and scheduling. He comes with 15 years of building experience starting with finish carpentry in high school, and evolving into purchasing roles after college. It does not take long to see Scott is a comedian with a quick sense of humor.  Scott and his wife Emily have two daughters, Grace and Paige. Time off is spent outdoors when possible including bird hunting and fishing.

Controller

B.A.in Business, University of Minnesota

Cheryl bring 18 years of construction bookkeeping and closing experience to Hanson Builders. She enjoys the excitement of helping people acquire a their dream of a beautiful new home.  At her own home, she and her husband Dale are very active raising 2 teenagers, Ariel and Jack, on their 10 acre hobby farm. Ariel loves animals, farming, and 4H. Jack likes football, video games, and Airsoft.

Currently, the family pets include Sam, the big black dog (aka Muffin), 2 friendly cats, 35 chickens, 1 turkey, 2 geese, 12 exotic pheasants, a snake, a llama, and a gecko. Cheryl makes maple syrup in her woods, harvests apples, picks blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, and brings everything into the office for everyone to enjoy. 

Accounting Intern

B.S. in Accounting Candidate, University of St. Thomas

Tyler is an intern in our Finance group.  He enjoys coaching and playing soccer and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.  Tyler hopes to work for a Big 4 firm after gaining hands on experience here at Hanson Builders.
