A team of twenty-six HBI employees, spouses, and even a couple of children, spent four days in January in Tijuana, Mexico, building houses for two impoverished families. Working with Homes of Hope, YWAM San Diego, the team split into two teams and each team built a 20 x20 house over two days. The families were chosen ahead of time by Homes of Hope and worked with our Hanson Builders teams.
The opportunity to work alongside the family that will live in the home makes the project so rewarding. To realize the impact having a secure, watertight home makes in the lives of each family member is a life-changing moment for each of us involved. At the end of the build, when the keys to the locking door, ( a first for most of these families) are handed to the family, we know that no home is more appreciated.
To date, Hanson Builders has sent three teams to Mexico and has built 7 homes, and we look forward eagerly to building more houses in the future.
